TruTravels Code of Conduct
TruTravels Traveller Conduct Policy
TruTravels creates life changing group travel experiences. We do that by making sure we run our trips in a safe, respectful, and enjoyable way for everyone involved. We need your help to make that happen. This traveller conduct policy (the “Conduct Policy”) sets standards for travellers to follow on their trip. In addition to compliance with applicable laws in any destination you may visit, you are expected to comply with this policy for the safety, security, and enjoyment of all. By indicating your acceptance and the bottom of this form, you agree to abide by the terms set out in this Conduct Policy. The terms described here are in addition to the TruTravels Booking Conditions. Respect for the tour leader, people and places Travellers are expected to respect others. This includes other travellers, TruTravels staff, third-party service providers and the local people in the destinations they visit. Some specifics are as follows:
Listen to your tour leader. They will be given lots of useful information before and during the trip which relates to customs, culture, and safety, among other marvellous and exciting things.
You are expected to listen to your tour leader, treat them with respect, and heed their advice – especially as it concerns recommendations about safe participation in trip activities.
Respect places and cultures. You may be visiting sites that are holy or significant places withinlocal culture. When visiting a place, please do not forget its primary purpose and respect its meaning to others who are present.
Ask about and respect dress codes. Ensure that you have permission before taking photographs of people, and that it is appropriate to take photos in holy or significant places.
Respect local communities and be mindful of noise levels, especiallyin residential areas and at night. Set an example for other travellers.
Health and safety:
Having a safe trip is key to having a fun trip. The following points are important in achieving
that goal:
Safety and security. Travellers should immediately report any concerns about safety, security, or unsafe or illegal behaviour to their tour leader or a TruTravels staff member. If you fail to immediately report these concerns this may delay our ability to respond to the situation.
Swimming and water safety. Water safety is important for swimmers of all abilities. Do not swim or participate in a water activity alone, after consuming alcohol, in an unattended area, or
after sundown.
Hygiene & health:
Travellers are expected to practice good health and hygiene routines individually and collectively. In light of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, this is particularly important. Travellers must adhere to all hygiene, health and safety practises given to them bytheir tour leader as much as possible to ensure my safety and also my fellow travellers, including using my mask and washing my hands etc. If at any point on the tour you become
unwell and suspect you may have symptoms of COVID-19, you must notify your group leaderimmediately.
Use of alcohol, illegal drugs and abusive behaviour. It’s important that we’re clear that certain behaviour will not be tolerated on trip. The following articulates some of this behaviour expressly. But in general, you are expected to exercise good judgement. If it’s not okay at home, it’s not okay on a trip.
Illegal drugs and alcohol. Travellers are responsible for their actions at all times. Consuming alcohol in excess impairs your judgment and reduces your ability to recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations. Travellers who choose to consume alcohol do so at their own risk. Excess alcohol consumption and abuse of drugs or other controlled substances, whether legal or illegal, that puts you, other travellers or TruTravels staff at risk is grounds for removal from a tour. Use and possession of illegal drugs and other illegal substances are prohibited.
Travellers who abuse illegal substances are subject to arrest and prosecution under applicable laws and removal from their tour.
Abusive behaviour or violence. TruTravels can remove you from a tour immediately if we witness abusive or violent behaviour or receive a report that you are behaving in an abusive or violent manner.
This includes: using abusive, threatening, or offensive language towards others, uninvited physical contact, solicitation, harassment, vandalism, theft, violence, use of fake/false
identification, underage drinking, providing alcohol to those under the allowed age, possession of illegal substances/items, or any other illegal or offensive conduct.
Physical relationships between staff and travellers are prohibited. TruTravels staff areprohibited from engaging in physical relationships with travellers. TruTravels staff are friendly, outgoing, and strive to provide amazing service.
We hire great people, and it’s their job to be helpful and ensure that each traveller has a great experience. Respecting the boundaries between staff and travellers is important for the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
Sexual Misconduct. TruTravels reserves the right to remove you from your tour if we witness any form of sexual misconduct or receive a report or allegations that you have engaged in any form of sexual misconduct. This includes but is not limited to: sexual harassment, sexual violence, non-consensual sexual intercourse, non-consensual sexual contact, domestic violence, dating violence or stalking.
Consequences
If a traveller fails to adhere to this policy and we determine, in our discretion, that there is a concern for the safety, security, or well-being of others, TruTravels may remove the traveller from a tour immediately. TruTravels may also report incidents to local authorities and seek other legal action where appropriate.
Travellers removed from a tour for failure to adhere to this Conduct Policy are responsible for all costs related to their removal including accommodations and transportation home at their own expense. No refunds will be issued if you are removed from a tour because of a violation of this Conduct Policy.
