welcome to morocco!

Touchdown in Morocco! The Land of the Sunset, the home to Tagines and a place famous for its crazy markets and breathtaking views. We're starting in Marrakech! Once you arrive at your hotel you'll have the day to roam, meet with the group and set off to discover your first taste of Morocco. Whether you want to go over to the leather workshops, or the markets or you just want a place to drink some tea and people watch (when in Morocco right?) your travel ninja (aka your new best friend) will be on hand to give you suggestions for your first day. In the evening you'll all meet as a group, begin to get to know each other and start to work out who in the group is the best photographer!
exploring the souks of marrakech

Morning TruTravellers! It's our first full day as a group and we are visiting Marrakech's hotspots with our local guide! We'll start at Jardin Majorelle which is an Instagrammers dream. It was created in 1922 and more recently in 1980 it was bought by Yves Saint Laurent who wanted to save it from being turned into a hotel. Thank goodness he did because it really is a special place to visit! Once we've had a group photo in all the iconic spots we'll head over to Jemaa el-Fna, the main square in Marrakech. You'll have seen photos of this place with all its bustling market stalls. Markets in Morocco are unlike anywhere else so dust off your haggling skills...let's go shopping. In the evening we'll go out for a group dinner overlooking Jemaa el-Fna - it looks even more incredible at night!
rural exploring and monkey fingers

We're heading away from the bustling city and getting our first taste of a more remote Morocco. Things are gonna get even sweeter today as we head to the area famous for producing all things rose. After we have discovered more about this stunning valley, weâll take a walk over to the Monkey Fingerâs Rocks - itâs a true hidden gem so get your camera ready. It's not a strenuous walk and the view the whole way is epic! Then in the evening we'll have a group dinner at our hotel in Boumalne Dades and try some more of Morocco's delicacies.
todra gorge and chilled afternoon

First up today we're heading to Todra Gorge, one of Morocco's must-see areas. Itâs like something out of Indiana Jones although luckily for us thereâll be no giant boulder chasing us todayâŚwell not one that we know of at least... After we've explored the Gorge, we're heading to our next destination - Merzouga. This is what we've all been waiting for - we're heading to the desert! This afternoon we've got some time to chill. Your tour guide will have plenty of suggestions so whether you want to do some exploring on foot or you just want to relax closer to the hotel, you'll be spoilt for choice. The best thing about having a Travel Ninja on hand is that they ALWAYS have the best suggestions for what to do! Whatever you end up doing, make sure you soak in the views and get ready for a big day tomorrow!
sandboarding and desert camping

First up we will have a chilled morning, have a lie-in, have a swim and take the day at a slower pace! Then chakras at the ready for an epic sandboarding experience in the heart of the desert. Want to know the best part of today? Well, it's got to be our sleepover on the sand dunes! We'll head over to the campsite, meet the locals who are taking us in for the night and settle into our temporary, magical home! After a super busy and exciting day, weâll have worked up an appetite so we'll be more than ready for a delicious traditional meal whilst we watch the sunset amongst the dunes. Someone call Lizzie McGuire because "This is what dreams are made of!"
travel day to ait ben haddou

Did you sleep well? Of course, you did! After a night in the desert weâll have a stunning morning watching the sunrise and pinching ourselves cause surely this isn't real life!? What could be better than getting back to basics with a night in the desert, surrounded by amazing people and even better views? Sadly though we can't stay here forever so we'll move on to our next stop: Ait Ben Haddou. It's an iconic landscape that has been used in countless famous films and series such as Games Of Thrones so get your cameras at the ready for some epic photos.
ait ben haddou and the atlas mountains

Today is an early start as weâre off to the heart of Ait Ben Haddou! This fortified village has been used as a filming location for Game Of Thrones, The Mummy and Gladiator. A great place to spend an hour getting lost amongst the pretty alleys and castle-like buildings. Then we;re off to our next epic location and it's not a journey you want to nap on! Look at the epic views as we cross the Tichka Pass and get some awesome photos along the way. We told you that Morocco is a photographer's dream! Then weâll head over to the Imlil cascades for a waterfall walk. This walk is right at the start of the infamous Mount Toubkal - don't worry we won't be doing anything as strenuous as that this trip but it is always cool to get a taste of what that trek is like! Exploring the Atlas Mountains is one of the most incredible things to do in Africa and is always a fan favourite on tours so get ready for a great day.
marrakech cooking class

Weâre going back to where it all began! Weâll have a chilled morning before travelling back to Marrakech. Back in the hustle and bustle we'll enjoy a final wander around the markets and soak in the incredible atmosphere. You'll also get a chance to experience some things you might have missed the first time around. In the evening, we will learn how to make the traditional cuisine we have been trying all week at a local cooking class. Whether you have been desperate to know how to make the perfect tagine or you want to find out the secret to Chermoula this is your chance to find out! It's the perfect finale to the most epic tour of Morocco.
chilled checkout

Tissues at the ready! All good things must come to an end, and after 9 amazing days of discovering the best of Morocco, it's time to say goodbye. We have eaten like kings, seen the most breathtaking views and had THE most fun! Weâve created memories to last a lifetime and taken enough pics to spam your Instagram for the next 12 months. Your Travel Ninja is on hand for any help with onward travel plans you might have if today doesnât mark the end of your travel adventure! Youâre part of the TruFam now and thatâs for life so itâs not goodbye itâs see you later!
