welcome to italy!!!
Welcome to Italy! We’re starting in the Capital - Rome - because where would be better to start when you’re exploring the south of this incredible country? Hop off the plane and make your way into the centre of the buzzing city - if it’s your first time in Italy you’re in for a real treat! Spend the day exploring - check out the stunning Vatican City if you fancy ticking off two countries in one day! Now THAT would be an epic way to start the 8 days! Swat up on your Italian ready for the welcome meal this evening with the group! We’ll head for some dinner and drinks - and grab a well-deserved Aperol too of course! We can also venture on to our accommodation's awesome rooftop to get some great views over the city! The perfect first day if you ask us...
let's explore rome...
Today we are going to get our bearings in Rome and tick off some of the bucket list sights in the city! We’ll start with a walking tour because there’s no better way to explore than by foot! We’ll see the iconic Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Piazza Venezia & the Pantheon - your cameras better be charged cause there's so many photo opportunities today. After a busy morning, we’ll head over to the main event…The Colosseum! Here we’ll explore and learn a bit about the history. Our tickets will also include entrance to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill which are definitely worth a visit but we won’t judge you if you want to find the closest place to have an ice-cold beer… After a busy day, tonight, we will have a chilled evening before grabbing some dinner! We can also explore the Trastevere Area which has got some super cute outdoor restaurants & a nice square with live music - whatever you fancy doing it's going to be a magical evening in Rome :)
foodie heaven
Are you ready for gooood food? Well, that’s great because we are headed to the food capital of the south! Our mouths are watering already. Once we arrive we’re headed straight for a local food walking tour! We’ll try some typical Neapolitan foods like Mozzarella, deep-fried pizza, pasta, babà, limoncello and more - get ready for a taste sensation like no other. We’ll spend the evening however you’d like, Naples has a great nightlife but if you fancy a chilled bar the city has plenty of those too - it’s your time - spend it how you’d like.
discover pompeii's history
We’re in for an amazing, historical day today! One of the must-visit spots in Italy is Pompeii which is where we are headed this morning. We are located perfectly so today’s journey to the site won’t take long! This ancient city *cue Cunk on Earth voice* on the outskirts of Naples was buried under metres of ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D and what remains is an amazing insight into the lives of those that once lived there. Luckily we will have plenty of time to explore and learn about Pompeii - it's going to be epic! After the morning in Pompeii, it’s up to you if you want to spend longer to explore or head back to Naples for the rest of the afternoon.
herculaneum and epic views of naples
Now we have seen Pompeii it would be rude not to discover more about this period. Today we are hiking Mount Vesuvius - yeah baby! It’ll only take us about half an hour to climb up to the top and once we are at the top you’ll have great views over Naples and the stunning sea, endless photo opportunities and of course a cafe for some refreshments too. Then we are off to Herculaneum which is another site affected by the volcanic eruption. It is a lesser-known spot to visit but the preservation here is even more detailed and intimate making it a must-visit location before we travel down to the next spot…Sorrento!! Once we arrive we’ll have a wander around this incredible town overlooking the Bay of Naples, stop for a drink to watch the sunset and then head out for dinner.
path of the gods hike!
The early bird catches the worm so we’re headed out early today to do the Path of the Gods Hike. The earlier the better for today's hike, it’ll be cooler and quieter (aka less chance of being photobombed!) The hike will take around 4 hours but we'll take our time and stop lots for photos and snacks along the way. There’ll be amazing views and even a cute little lemon slushy stop to keep us cool! At the end of the hike, we’ll arrive at Positano where we will relax, grab some lunch and explore a little bit before getting a bus back to Sorrento! It’s been a big day of exploring by foot so this will be a nice relaxing drive back! It’ll also be the perfect time to go through all your photos from the hike today and do a cheeky insta post.
Please note: This activity is not possible when the weather is bad. When the weather is poor we will instead to head to Positano by van and spend the afternoon there. Don't worry, either way, we'll see the magic of Positano.
capri, aperols and epic views!
It’s our final full day on tour - tears all around! Today’s another early start as we hop on the ferry in the morning which takes around an hour. Once we arrive in Capri we’ll be free to roam as we wish! To get up to the piazza and upper town we can walk, jump on board the funicular or catch a bus. We’ll all get the chairlift up to the highest point of the island to make the most of the incredible views and we’ll also explore the Giardini di Augusto, a beautiful botanical garden. It is the perfect way to spend our penultimate day. In the evening we’ll have our final dinner as a group whilst drinking Aperols and eating tiramisu as the sun goes down. What an incredible trip it has been.
chilled check out!
It’s time to say Ciao. Today is a chilled check out and if we’re honest we’re not quite ready to say goodbye. You’re part of the TruFam now and that’s for life so it’s not goodbye it’s see you later! Or should we say…Pasta la vista baby!

We would consider this a more active tour than some of our other European adventures as we include a longer walk on day 6 - the Path of the Gods hike! The trail is about 7km (4.5 miles) long and can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. There are some points on the walk that might be steep or have uneven terrain and be prepared for the stairs down to Positano - 1700 in total!
But don’t worry, if you don’t feel up for tackling the stairs then there is the option of hopping on a local bus and meeting the group there!
We always receive different levels of fitness on our tours, at the end of the day the important thing is to bring good vibes & positive attitude and you will make it!
