K'gari Island is calling! It's one of the biggest and best things to do on the east coast of Australia and we’re taking you there! An early departure from the Sunshine Coast begins with a scenic drive through the Toolara State Forest and Cooloola National Park. This morning after a quick stop off at Rainbow Beach, just south of K'gari (Fraser Island), we’ll head straight to the largest sand island in the world. Our vehicle will board the barge to cross the Great Sandy Strait (where we’ll hopefully spot some dolphins) to K'gari, formerly known as Fraser Island. We will then travel inland along sand tracks through heathlands towards our next destination... Lake McKenzie. Here we will have plenty of time for swimming and relaxing by the lake! Lunch will be an “Aussie Style Bush Picnic” - now we're living our best Aussie lives! After having a final wander through Central Station (which is nothing like the one in The Big Apple!) Sadly this magical day has to come to an end but this magnificent rainforest is the perfect way to end our time here on K'gari. We will head back to the Sunshine Coast late afternoon ready for a more chilled day tomorrow!

The Tru Australia tour was the most incredible and jam packed 16 days! Only thing I’d say is there isn’t much time to chill or do your own thing if wanted, it’s a lot crammed into a short amount of time but perfect to balance a backpacking trip around work! You see and do so much and make the most incredible friends and memories along the way. Maddy was amazing, not only as a tour guide but as a friend and a huge support for all of us. Her positivity, bubbly character and fun energy shone the whole time and she made the tour so incredible! Her passion for her beautiful country showed and she...

First Trip Down Under
This was a trip of a lifetime and Maddy is a major part of that - you can see the effort she’s put in to curate this itinerary and make it what it is today. For first time Oz travellers this is a great way to experience so many different locations packed with activities without the hassle of organizing it yourself and then pick some favourites to go back to afterwards. This was my first Tru trip and our guide has definitely set the bar high - myself and 2 others who were strangers 16 days ago have already booked another Tru trip together before this one even ended and I think that speaks vol...

The Australia East Coast tour is a must do!! You won’t find a tour guide better than Maddy. She is funny, caring, attentive and her passion for Australia shines throughout the tour. Highlights for me included visiting Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island, it is so picturesque, as well as surf camp and the 2 boat days snorkelling through the Whitsundays. This tour is especially good if you have little annual leave from work as you can pack so much adventure and memories into 2 weeks. Thank you Maddy for the trip of a lifetime!!

If you’ve been considering visiting Australia but have worries about travelling solo, I’d highly recommend this tour. Maddy is an amazing tour guide - she was supportive and kind and approachable from before Day 1 of the trip. I felt like I got to see so much of beautiful Australia in such a short space of time whilst also having down time to chill and enjoy my holiday. This trip has made me fall in lo...

Do many TruTravellers travel alone?

Yes, the majority of our travellers will be travelling on their own! Roughly 65% of our TruTravellers come solo! We have designed our trips specifically with solo travellers in mind, so you can be assured you’ll meet lots of others travelling alone like yourself along the way. This of course doesn’t mean our trips are only for solo travellers, but it does mean that you don’t need to worry you’ll be surrounded by a group that already knows each other.
