GIANT PANDAS ARE NO LONGER ENDANGERED
Giant pandas have been downgraded to the ‘vulnerable’ list. Wahoooo! Although this is still worrying, we’re on the right track to ensure these bamboo loving guys' population will continue to grow.. Reaching over 1,800 in the wild, conservationists have worked hard to ensure giant pandas are no longer classed as endangered with their focus on the conservation of habitats and recreating and repopulating bamboo forests around the world which makes up 99% of a Giant Panda’s diet. Who knew!
VENICE BANS LARGE CRUISE SHIPS
We all want to be sailing around Venice in a gondola, eating some fresh gelato with our BFF or love of our life, but with 10’s of huge cruise ships docking up and 10’s of thousands of tourists coming off, this can’t be good for the environment right? plus the endless pollution cruise ships dump into the ocean? CORRECT. It’s not good. Which is why, Italy’s government has put a ban on large cruise ships docking into Venice’s lagoon from August 2021. We’re here for it! Venice is a beautiful place to visit and we’d love to see this floating city thriving for hundreds of decades to come. GO ITALY!
GLENFIDDICH TO RUN LORRIES ON WHISKEY WASTE
The news we all wanted to hear. Drinking Whiskey is good for the environment! The god damn tasty whiskey brand of Glenfiddich has recently converted excess waste from part of their production and turned into fuel. Using an anaerobic digester, liquid waste from the whisky making process is fed to bacteria in the digester to produce biogas which is converted into fuel. Using this biogas cuts emissions by 95% compared to diesel and other fossil fuels and reduces harmful particles by up to 99%. LET’S GO GET SOME WHISKEY!
