24 hours in: Hvar, Croatia

If you’re looking for a perfect day in Hvar, Croatia, you’re in the right place. Hvar is one of our favourite spots in Croatia and luckily this place is still relatively unknown compared to Dubrovnik and Split. This island has it all: stunning beaches, historical landmarks, and fantastic food. Here’s a guide to spending a day in Hvar that will leave you with incredible memories, amazing photos and a full belly too, because no good day exploring this island is complete without trying allll the snacks and seafood!

 

 

Morning: Relax and have a dip in the sea! 🌊

Start your day with a refreshing swim in the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. Head towards Hula Hula Beach Bar, don't go in we'll save that for later, instead find a quiet spot for a relaxing morning swim and sunbathe. This island is known for being one of the sunniest places in Croatia so grab a sunbed, order a smoothie, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. It's the perfect place to read your book! Hvar has great views and chill vibes, making it the perfect for escaping the busy streets of Split!

 

 

Midday: Explore the Fortress 🏰

After soaking up some sun, take a walk to the Fortica Fortress. The hike is short but steep, so wear comfortable shoes. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking and offer a great photo opportunity. The fortress itself is a fascinating piece of Hvar’s history, giving you a glimpse into the island’s past. You'll be able to look down over Hvar's centre and see the amazing orange rooftops which span as far as the eye can see! Then, once you are done soaking in the view you can walk back towards the beach bars - it's 5'oclock somewhere right? Hula Beach Bar is one of our favourites - it's expensive but you are 100% paying for the location with this one!

 

 

Afternoon: Ice Cream Treat 🍦

After your afternoon drinks and another dip in the crystal clear water, head back into town and treat yourself to some ice cream at Luka Ice Cream & Cakes. This place is a must-visit for its unique flavors. Try the fig ice cream – it’s a local specialty and absolutely delicious. If you're not a fan of fig, perhaps try the Lavender which is sooo different and it totally unique to Croatia.

 

 

Late Afternoon: Beach Bar Chill 🍹

Next, take a short boat ride to Carpe Diem Beach. It’s a great place to unwind with a cocktail in hand. During the day, it’s a relaxed spot perfect for lounging and socializing. As the day progresses, the atmosphere becomes livelier, making it a great spot to meet new people.

 

 

Evening: Sunset Views 🌅

As the day winds down, find a spot along the waterfront to watch the sunset. The colors are spectacular, and it’s a great way to end a day of exploring. Kiva Bar is a good option for enjoying the sunset with a drink.

 

 

Night: Party Time 🕺

If you’re up for some nightlife, Hvar won’t disappoint. Start your night at Pink Champagne, a popular spot for both locals and visitors. With great music and a lively dance floor, it’s the perfect place to keep the fun going into the early hours. Seven is also a great choice - although in Hvar you are never far from a fab night out!
