Think crystal clear waters, white sands, the chance to unplug from reality and relax in a tranquil paradise. Koh Rong Samloem is a place you will want to shout about from the rooftops but also keep all to yourself. A selfish little indulgence that only you can enjoy...and we can see why!
KOH RONG SAMLOEM
Koh Rong Samloem, unlike it's bigger sister Koh Rong Island, is still much more undeveloped and is still yet to be discovered by many. It is an island situated 4km south of Koh Rong Island and boasts picturesque scenes with its turquoise waters, white sand, beautiful sunsets, and the insane phosphorescence! For those of you who don't know what that is, bioluminescence is when a tiny organism's in the water produce a glow. This glow makes the water look like it is covered in tiny stars- a magical experience! You can only see these when it is pitch black outside, so around midnight, you can head out to the water to check it out. What makes this even more special is that you can look up at the stars at the same time, making you feel like a tiny little being with the universe all around you.
Don't expect any WIFI here. Koh Rong is completely unplugged from the 'real world' giving you the chance to disconnect for a while and forget all about your first world problems. There is also limited time for electricity, so if you are looking for a place to strip back to the basics and simply unwind for a few days, then this is the perfect set up for you. Rumour has it that this peaceful island is somewhat similar to Thailand's beaches going back 20 years. It won't be long until more people start to discover it and build on this beautiful island. The world travels fast, so you should get out there now before you have to share it with a thousand others at the same time.
On our Cambodia Explorer tour, you have the privilege of staying on this island. Not only that but it is almost like our own private section of the island as where we stay is the only hostel on that stretch. We stay in cute little beach bungalows just a stones throw away from the beach. You can relax in the sleepy hammocks swaying above the water, or chill on the bean bags enjoying a cocktail watching the waves roll in. Not to mention the incredible sunsets which you can watch from the deck. This hidden gem is not to be missed!
